LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville restaurant spent Christmas Day serving a home-cooked meal to hundreds of people.
"Christmas is just a commercial thing, but this, this is a spiritual thing here," said Jessie Green, owner of Big Momma's Soul Food Kitchen on West Broadway.
The line was out the door Friday to taste Green's fried chicken and all the fixings.Â
With the help of volunteers, Green has been offering free meals every Christmas for the past seven years.
She calls this her favorite gift.
"This is Christ's birthday," she said. "This is my gift to the community for Christmas."
Volunteers also delivered meals to senior citizens. Green said no one should go without a meal on Christmas.
