LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Mayor Craig Greenberg joined state lawmakers to announce more than $1 billion allocated for Louisville projects in Kentucky’s newly approved two-year state budget.
Greenberg was joined Friday morning by Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers, Kentucky House Speaker David Osborne and other city leaders to announce the investment.
"1 billion is an extraordinary investment in Louisville, and it is one that does not does not happen by chance,"Â Greenberg said at the press conference.
Among the projects receiving funding are downtown revitalization efforts, improvements tied to the Jefferson County road plan, expansion projects at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport and redevelopment at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
In addition, the city arts are getting a major boost, with multimillion dollar investments in the Louisville Orchestra and Ballet along with several museums.
The is the second time the city has received more than $1 billion from the state during Greenberg's administration.
"Louisville is critical to our economic success, and this budget reflects that through significant investments in infrastructure, public safety, economic development, the arts, and other community priorities," Stivers said.
