LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville teen will be honored this week for earning every Scout Merit Badge.
George "Georgie" Green, 15, earned all 138 Merit Badges. Scouting America said he is among the less than 1% of scouts who earn all of the badges.
Leaders said the Merit Badge program is designed to not only teach scouters life skills, but provide hands-on experiences in different subjects "with the goal of sparking interest in new hobbies, promoting career exploration, and developing well-rounded and comprehensive fluent citizens."
Green is from Troop 56 in Louisville and is one of only 596 confirmed scouts to reach the achievement of earning all 138 Merit Badges.
This Friday, Green will be honored during the Annual Council Business Meeting at the Lincoln Heritage Council in Louisville. He will be wearing his uniform and displaying his sash full of badges. Leaders said he will help lead the opening ceremonies for the meeting, talk to younger Cub Scouts, and be recognized for his achievements.
