LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man died after he was hit by a car while attempting to cross Preston Highway early Friday morning.
According to a news release from LMPD spokesman Aaron Ellis, officers received a report at 6:10 a.m. of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Preston Highway and Tower Road.
Officers believe the man, who was wearing all dark clothing, was attempting to cross Preston Highway when he was hit by a vehicle that was traveling southbound.Â
The driver of the car stopped after the crash and called for assistance. They stayed on the scene until officers and EMS arrived.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Ellis said no charges are expected as the driver is cooperating with police.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is leading the investigation.
