LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man was critically injured Wednesday night when he was hit by a vehicle near Louisville's airport.

Police were called to the 5900 block of Preston Highway just before 9 p.m. on a report that a person had been hit by a vehicle, according to Dwight Mitchell, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department. That's not far from East Indian Trail in the Newburg neighborhood.

Once on scene, officers found a man who was hit. Investigators with LMPD's Traffic Unit believe the man was crossing Preston Highway from the east to the west, not in a crosswalk, when he was hit by a northbound vehicle.

Mitchell said the man was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition. No charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
