LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man was killed and a woman was hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Dixie Highway, according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police.
It happened just before 12:30 p.m. in the 13100 block of Dixie Highway. That's when a woman driving a passenger vehicle in the southbound lanes crossed into the northbound lanes for an unknown reason.
Police said the woman's car struck a northbound vehicle driven by a man head-on, which then caused her vehicle to collide with a pickup truck traveling behind the second vehicle.
The man driving the vehicle that was struck head-on was taken to UofL Health Hospital, where he died from his injuries shortly after arriving. The woman driver who collided with that vehicle was also taken to the hospital, but police said her injuries did not appear life-threatening.
The man driving the pickup truck refused medical treatment at the scene.
Both directions of Dixie Highway were shut down while police cleared the scene.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is leading the ongoing investigation.
