LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Spring break is right around the corner for millions of students across the nation.
AAA compiled a list of the top destinations students are traveling to.
Top international destinations include Rome, London, Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid. Remember that new travel requirements for trips to Europe and the United Kingdom take effect this year. To view those requirements, click here.
If staying in the U.S., many people are headed to the Sunshine State. Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Tampa, all made the top 10.
Some spring breakers are not escaping the cold and will head to Chicago and New York.
According to AAA, the average price for a spring break domestic plane ticket is $820, up 7% from last year. For international travel, it will cost you more than $1,400 for a ticket.
Hotels stays in the U.S. are up about 8%, averaging $660. Costs for rental cars are about the same as last year, averaging about $645.
And don't forget about the cruises, which is at an all-time high. AAA estimates 19 million Americans will go on an ocean cruise this year. Most domestic cruises leave from Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, and Miami. Domestic cruise costs are up 27% from this time last year.
