LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Nature Center has a way to get back at your ex on Valentine's Day.
The local nonprofit is giving people the chance to name a roach after an ex, a boss, a public figure or anyone else for $10. Those roaches will then be fed to a turtle.
Louisville Nature Center will make a video of Francis, a yellow-bellied slider turtle, eating the roaches. The video will be sent to the donors.
According to a news release, the donors will also get a certificate acknowledging the event. The funds raised will go toward a new habitat for Francis. The turtle was rescued from an animal hoarding situation.
"Francis came to us very ill with shell rot. He had been kept in a tiny tank with no basking light and almost no room to move around," Rebecca Minnick, executive director of Louisville Nature Center, said in a news release. "His current situation is an upgrade for sure, but he does need a bigger tank. We hope to raise funds from this fun Valentine's Day event for his upkeep."
