LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Nature was the star of the show on the first day of December in Louisville.
The Louisville Nature Center hosted its annual holiday open house at its location in Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve. There were nature-themed crafts, cookies, hot chocolate and education.
The center also offered membership specials and emphasized the importance of getting outside during the cooler months.
"If you go out for a hike in the winter this time of year you will see turkeys, you will see lots of deer, it was so beautiful this morning when there was snow on the ground," said Rebecca Minnick, executive director of Louisville Nature Center. "We wanted people to just get a chance to get out here and people who have never been here before."
The center is also holding a bourbon raffle through Monday. One winner will win a Blade & Bow 22 year and a Van Winkle 12 year Lot B. Tickets are $50. The raffle ends at 1:19 p.m. on Monday.
