LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Runners can go the distance again this year as the Republic Bank half marathon returns this fall.

Officials announced Thursday morning that the race will be Sunday, September 23rd.

The route takes runners past major Louisville attractions including the Yum! Center, Churchill Downs and Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

It ends at Slugger Field.

Participants will be greeted with something new at the finish line.

"A neat addition this year is individualized results. Right when they cross the finish line, they will get a little printed receipt of their split times, their finish times and how they finished within their age division and overall, as well as a great race T-shirt and some other swag as we like to call it," says JAM Brand Sports' Matt Roberts.

Proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Kentuckiana.
