LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new reflection garden was dedicated in southern Indiana on Saturday.
People in New Albany gathered to grieve the loss of loved ones and dedicate a new public space of mourning.Â
Barry's Reflection Garden was named for Barry Duncan. He grew up in the area and was a childhood friend of Tony Hostetler, who works for Hoosier Action.Â
"Our ultimate goal is to end some of the stigma behind substance abuse," Hostetler said. "That's what Barry's Reflection Garden is for, a place to reflect, not just memorialize people who have passed on."
The garden is a public place to honor people who have died due to despair, gun violence, substance use and overdose. It's located at the Hoosier Action Office at 931 State Street in New Albany.Â
Anyone can visit the space.
"We wanted a safe place," Hostetler said.Â
