Non-profit group 'Apple Patch' announces name change during celebration

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --Ā A local organization celebrated three decades of giving over the weekendĀ and revealed a new name.

Apple Patch held its anniversary picnic Sunday at Foxhollow Farm and announced a name change. The non-profit group, now known as Pillar, works with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It has a variety of programs to serve people in Metro Louisville and surrounding counties.

"For the past 30 years we have been known and served the community as Apple Patch," said Benton Keith, a board member. "And today, moving forward, we are now Pillar. So we are supporting the population that we serve and feel that the name Pillar best depicts that."

The picnic was a fundraiser with all the proceeds going to support the organization.
