LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man was shot and killed in Louisville's Park DuValle neighborhood Sunday night, and a responding officer was injured when a vehicle fleeing the scene struck them.
Louisville Metro Police were called on a ShotSpotter alert in the 2900 block of Annie Street around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, department spokesperson Adam Sears said.
While officers were on the scene investigating, a vehicle fled the scene, hitting an officer. Sears said the officer was conscious and alert and was taken to the hospital.
Officers then located a man who had been shot, and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim Monday as 34-year-old Charmont Thompson.
LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating.
