Free book program Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Newborns at Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital will soon take home a free book.

It’s part of a new partnership between the Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation, PNC Foundation, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

The project is funded by a $100,000 grant from PNC, honoring late Louisville businessman and philanthropist Junior Bridgeman.

Each baby will receive a copy of “The Little Engine That Could” when enrolled in the Imagination Library, which mails free books each month to children from birth to age 5.

Books distributed in November will include a message honoring Bridgeman’s legacy: “In honor of Junior Bridgeman, a champion for kids, to inspire young readers.”

Families can sign up during their hospital stay, with volunteers helping coordinate enrollment.
