NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- Honey Creme Donut Shop has been at Vincennes Street and Donut Alley in New Albany for about eight decades, and now, its owners say it's the time for a change.
Honey Creme has been family owned since the mid 1940s, featuring donuts and cannolis. Its owners, Jason Van Horn and his wife, put the 1,350-square-foot business up for auction. The mixers, fryers, display cases are all included on a 1-acre lot with parking.
There will be an open house from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, and another from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15.
"I just want to be able to live my life the way I want to and not 3 o'clock in the morning, when every day starts up and I am down here making them," Van Horn said. "I just want to be able to enjoy life. It is not going to get any easier as I get older."
The Van Horns said it was just time to hopefully pass the torch or even teach someone new about the donut business. Or it could become a totally new concept.
The minimum bid for the no-reserve auction is $750,000.Â
