LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Zoo held a party for the planet on Sunday.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, zoo officials and the LG&E and KU Foundation celebrated the annual Party for the Planet. Kids in Action were honored.

Kids in Action is a group of students that create science projects and show their passion for nature and conservation to celebrate Earth Day, which is April 22.

"These projects help provide a platform for students to share the important message of conservation with their peers," said Dan Maloney, Louisville Zoo director.

In celebration of Earth Day, the zoo will be offering admission on Mondays for just $7.25.
