LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Fern Creek early Friday.
It happened just after 1 a.m. in the 7700 block of Bardstown Road, near the Gene Snyder Freeway, according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police. Police said the person was hit by a northbound vehicle while trying to cross the roadway.
The pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim Saturday as 30-year-old Miranda Carey.
The vehicle's driver stopped and remained at the scene until police arrived.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.
