LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville Metro Police cruiser hit a pedestrian in Shelbyville Friday morning, according to police.
Shelbyville Police Department said police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian and vehicle at the 1700 block of Midland Trail, near the intersection of Sunset Way, around 6:58 a.m. March 28.Â
When police arrived on scene, an LMPD cruiser was blocking Midland Trail with emergency lights activated. Police said the LMPD officer was attempting to render aid to the female pedestrian.
The pedestrian was hit by the police cruiser when she tried to cross the four-lane divided highway, according to police. She was not in a crosswalk when she was hit, according to police.
Shelbyville Police said an overhead street light at the intersection wasn't working when the crash happened.
Police don't think drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. But toxicology reports are pending for the driver of the vehicle and pedestrian. Â
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital in Louisville with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.Â
No charges are expected in the incident, according to police.
