LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Kentucky staples like hot browns and bourbon took a backseat Saturday for a taste of Southeast Asia.
The Philippine Independence Day Festival was held Saturday at Fourth Street Live! in downtown Louisville.
The event featured several local food trucks and cuisine from various areas of the Philippines.
There were also Filipino performances and craft vendors.
“We are Filipino American, of course. We have been here for a couple of years already,” attendee Jesalyn Witt said. “We’re just hanging out here, meeting some new friends, and it’s so exciting.”
The event celebrates the Philippines’ Declaration of Independence from Spanish rule that took place on June 12, 1898.
