LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A stretch of land beneath the Watterson Expressway is set to become Louisville’s newest outdoor recreation space.

Planning and design are complete for Bike Highland Park, a mountain bike skills course planned under Interstate 264 at 4402 Old Park Blvd., Mayor Craig Greenberg announced Monday.

The park will serve riders of all ages and skill levels, with community input earlier this year helping shape the initial design.

"Once complete, Bike Highland Park will be a first-of-its-kind facility for our region — a space that promotes tourism, future events and stronger connections between neighborhoods," Greenberg said in a news release.

The city is now working with state and federal partners to complete the permitting process. Construction will begin once approvals are in place. Visit online for more information.
