LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man who police say was driving drunk offered an unusual excuse for his behavior.

It happened on Garland Avenue, near 15th St., shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say 53-year-old Dwayne S. Taylor was driving his 1995 Jeep Cherokee in the area and was twice observed stopping for no reason. When police pulled up next to him and asked if he was okay, he allegedly told them, "It's okay. I'm going to AA." (By "AA," he presumably meant Alcoholics Anonymous.)

Taylor allegedly had slurred speech and admitted to drinking two cans of beer in the past 40 minutes. Police say he had alcohol on his breath and had trouble standing.

He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
