LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Funeral services were announced Thursday for former Kentucky Gov. Brereton Jones.

Jones will lie in state in the rotunda of the Kentucky capitol building on Monday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

His family will be there from 3-7 p.m.

Jones' funeral will be Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. at Forks of the Elkhorn Baptist Church in Midway, Kentucky.

His burial will be private.

Jones, 84, served as governor from 1991-95. He died Monday after a lengthy illness.

Jones' family released a statement saying, "It was his love of horses that brought Brereton Jones to Kentucky, but it was the people of the Commonwealth that made his life so incredibly fulfilling."

Instead of flowers, his family is asking for donations to the charities, including Race Track Chaplaincy of America, Old Friends and Bluegrass Care Navigators.
