LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Kentucky lawmaker is pushing to return driver's license services to county offices.
State Rep. Savannah Maddox, R-Northern Kentucky, has proposed a bill that would get rid of regional driver's license offices in the state.
Kentuckians would have to go to the Circuit County Clerk's office to get their license.
The push for her bill comes amid ID fraud allegations involving a scheme of undocumented workers buying driver's licenses under the table for $200.
Maddox said the regional office model is creating too many obstacles for Kentuckians.
"No longer should Kentuckians have to wait months to get an appointment, drive two or three counties over, wait all day in line, many times having taken off work just to receive a driver's license three to four weeks later in the mail," Maddox said.
She hopes the bill can be passed into law early next year.
