LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky lawmakers passed a new law aimed at addressing the growing threat of gift card fraud in the commonwealth.
Senate Bill 130 was signed into law by Gov. Andy Beshear after passing unanimously in both the House and Senate.
The new law makes it illegal to tamper with gift cards and establishes clear penalties for the unauthorized receipt and use of stolen gift card redemption information. It also gives law enforcement the authority to prosecute those who trick people into providing gift card redemption information under false pretenses.
