LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky's newly-formed Antisemitism Task Force is hoping to address a rise in anti-Jewish incidents across the state.
A group of 18 faith leaders, state lawmakers, Gov. Andy Beshear and Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg make up the task force.
Wednesday, the group heard from Kelly Fishman, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, who offered some sobering statistics.
Fishman said since the Hamas attacks on Israel on Oct. 7, there has been a 361% increase in antisemitic incidents across the U.S., including a huge surge on college campuses.
"I think, oftentimes, our leadership at universities is unaware why this is hurtful, what's happening, maybe even being afraid to make a statement," she said.
In Kentucky, there have been 14 antisemitic incidents reported since October, including graffiti, flyers, and threats to Jewish institutions.
