LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Kentucky Senator and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stopped in Louisville on Tuesday.

He attended Greater Louisville Inc.'s Capitol Connection series, which gives local business leaders the chance to hear from elected officials.

McConnell said he recognizes that the American people feel divided politically, but said that's when it's most important to work together.

"We have a divided government more often than not since WWII, and I think what you can conclude from that is the American people are not happy with either side, so they divide the government," he said. "I think that is not a decision to do nothing, but a decision to look for things you can agree on and do those."

McConnell, the longest serving Senate Party Leader in history, will step down from his post in November.
