LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Pride Month kicked off around the country on June 1 as a local event was held in southern Indiana.
Southern Indiana Pride held its festival on Saturday at Big Four Station Park in Jeffersonville.
There were more than 70 vendors focusing on inclusivity and celebrating the LGBTQ community.
Around 5,000 people were expected to attend the event.
"I am glad southern Indiana is taking a part in it," Leighah Wheelar said. "I know Louisville has had a really big Pride festival for a while so this one is fairly new so we're just really happy to be here and happy to support it."
Kentuckiana Pride will take place on the Big Four Lawn in Louisville on June 15.
