LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville drivers beware: Some ramp closures will snarl traffic in Spaghetti Junction this weekend.

The closures will impact drivers going south on Interstate 65 starting at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12. The ramps from I-65 South to Interstates 71 and 64 West will close through 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15.

The ramp to I-64 East will remain open.

Following several crashes involving semitrucks in the area, crews will be applying a high-friction surface as part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said the high-friction surface treatments are "designed to enhance roadway safety by increasing pavement friction, especially in wet weather conditions, and also provides added protection for concrete surfaces."

Officials said detour signs will be posted, and encourage drivers to allow extra travel time and use caution when driving through the work zone.
