Why the work is being done
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said the high-friction surface treatments are "designed to enhance roadway safety by increasing pavement friction, especially in wet weather conditions, and also provides added protection for concrete surfaces."
Officials said detour signs will be posted, and encourage drivers to allow extra travel time and use caution when driving through the work zone.
