LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 43-second cellphone video from one of the two Delphi teenagers murdered in 2017 was recently released to the public for the first time.Ā
According to Fox59Ā in Indianapolis, the video surfaced as attorneys for Richard Allen ā who was convicted late last year of killing Liberty German and Abigail Williams ā filed an appeal in the case. It hasn't been shared with the public until now.Ā
The video shows the suspect, dubbed "Bridge Guy" by authorities. It was recorded on German's cellphone while she and Williams walked on the Monon High Bridge on Feb. 13, 2017. Both girls were murdered after the video was taken.
In the video,Ā Williams can be seen walking on the bridge with a man walking closely behind her. It sounds like Williams says something to German about the man walking behind her before the man can be heard saying,Ā "Guys down the hill."
Whispering and sniffling can also be heard in the video, before one of the girls talks about getting off the bridge.
Lawyers have said there was mention of a gun around the 17-second mark, but that audio is hard to hear clearly.
Allen, 52, wasĀ convicted on Nov. 11, 2024. A special judge sentenced him in December to 130 years in prison. His attorneys filed an appeal March 11, but specifics have not yet been released.Ā
Allen and his legal team continue to maintain his innocence, citing "procedural deficiencies" in the prosecution of the case.Ā
