LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — New Safe Haven Baby Boxes were unveiled Friday afternoon in Louisville.
The new baby boxes are at Anchorage Middletown Fire at 108 Urton Lane and EMS Station 31 at 4700 Murphy Lane.Â
Each box is secured and climate-controlled with sensors that activate a silent alarm to on-duty staff when the door opens. This is to ensure an immediate response.Â
The boxes are a safe, legal and anonymous infant surrender option for parents in crisis.
There are 435 Safe Haven Baby Boxes in the country, and 66 in Kentucky.
