LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Shively police officer was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car early Tuesday morning.

According to Sergeant Jordan Brown with the Shively Police Department, the accident happened just before 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Millers Lane.

Police said the officer was hit while helping someone with a tow. The officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to be be okay.

The driver who hit the officer remained at the scene, and no charges are expected.
