LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Gov. Eric Holcomb directed flags to be flown at half-staff in southern Indiana to honor a U.S. Army soldier who died.
Master Sgt. James Christopher Lasher, 48, died from injuries from a car crash on Oct. 31. Holcomb directed flags to be flown at half-staff in Clark, Jefferson and Johnson counties from sunrise to sunset on Nov. 9.
Lasher, of Underwood, Indiana, enlisted in the Indiana Army National Guard on Aug. 8, 2003 and served for 20 years, according to his obituary. Lasher was serving the 219th Engineer Brigade at the Johnson County Armory when he died.
He was awarded and received the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal, among other honors.
Funeral services will be held on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. A visitation is being held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday and noon on Thursday.
