LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's fashion with a purpose. A charity fashion show in New Albany raised hundreds of dollars for victims of the Harvest Homecoming shooting.
It also brought the community together to help those trying to heal from tragedy.
People from both sides of the river filled nearly every seat in the room at The Grand on Sunday.
"You're on the edge of your seat to see what's gonna happen," attendee Kylee Tennant said.
Tennant drove in from Georgetown to support one of the models. Many of them are students from local high schools.
"It's good to bring everybody together, and it took a lot of hard work," Tennant said. "It's a really good cause, too."
The House of K Boutique in New Albany created and organized the "High Fashion, Higher Purpose Fashion Show" to support the Harvest Homecoming victims and their families.
"It actually almost brought me to tears when they were talking about it into the moment of silence earlier, just because it's for such a good cause for that family to remember in honor of their son, and then the other shooting victims as well," attendee Tiffany Doolin said.
On October 12, 18-year-old Bryce Gerlach of Corydon was shot and killed while attending the festival.
A single mother, Michele Nashi, was also shot. And Brendan Hagan took a bullet to the leg.
"Bryce's family is here, which is so amazing," said Britni Knable, the owner of House of K Boutique. "And his brother and his sister are modeling in the show, and his girlfriend, and it was a great way for them to honor their brothers."
Gerlach's family told organizers they appreciated everything they did to pull this night off.
"Everyone is wanting to support each other through this tragedy," Knable said.
The House of K Boutique in New Albany created and organized the "High Fashion, Higher Purpose Fashion Show" to support the Harvest Homecoming victims and their families.
Every ticket sold and every step taken supported the cause.
One ticket cost $15. A VIP ticket cost $20. The event lasted two and a half hours.
The fashion show fundraiser featured looks from House of K Bridal, 812 Vintage, and Dwell & Social Gardens. Dozens of people also won door prizes throughout the night.
Sound Unlimited Production also donated its' services to the special event. There were more than 40 volunteers total.
Next, the community is working to get Bryce Gerlach's name on the football field. You can sign the petition here.
