LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A new 24/7 emergency veterinary clinic is now open in St. Matthews, giving pet owners in the Louisville area a new option for urgent care at any hour.
VEG ER for Pets, located on Shelbyville Road, offers emergency services including surgery, X-rays, ultrasounds and critical care. The clinic is designed with an open layout that allows pet owners to stay with their animals throughout treatment from exams to overnight hospitalization.
The model is intended to keep pets and their families together during stressful medical emergencies.
Dr. Kathryn Mehfoud, medical director at VEG ER, said that approach makes a difference for owners.
"It’s important because owners do not want to be separated from their pets whenever they have their owners by their side," Mehfoud said.
The St. Matthews location is the first VEG ER in Kentucky. The company operates more than 100 emergency veterinary hospitals nationwide.
