LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Road crews in Kentucky are revving up for a big weekend.

"We are bringing back out state forces Friday at midnight because of the winter weather advisory that has been issued. We're watching the forecast," says Andrea Clifford, the spokeswoman for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Louisville Public Works' spokeswoman, Lindsay English, says the city still has plenty of salt in reserve to last through the winter.

"Our snow team will be on standby to move into place and have their equipment ready to roll when the snow moves in this weekend," says English.

During yesterday's snow, the state used about 3,500 tons of salt.

About 1/4 of that goes on interstates throughout Jefferson County.

Clifford asks motorists to be careful of salt trucks, which go slower than other vehicles to adequately coat the streets.
