State money to help pay for Jeffersonville marina

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Grant money from the state of Indiana will help pay for a new downtown marina in Jeffersonville, Ind.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has given the city two grants amounting to $153,343. The City of Jeffersonville is providing $291,000 of the $391,000 project.

Mayor Mike Moore said in a news release, "While it won't cover all of the costs, it will go a long way to replacing our existing docks on the Ohio River and making them more user friendly."

One of the grants is $53,343.00 and will pay for installing electrical connections to the existing manhole at the marina on East Riverside Drive. The other is $100,000 and will pay for putting in a floating fishing pier, pilings, and new lighting.

"We are a river city. A new Marina maximizes one of Jeffersonville's great assets – the Ohio River," said Moore. "With a complete overhaul of our boat docks, the Marina will quickly become a great attraction in our downtown."
