LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Southern Indiana firefighters responding to a house fire made an unusual rescue.
In a Facebook post, the Tri-Township Fire and Rescue crew said it received a call around 6:10 a.m. of a structure fire in the 14000 block of Columbus Mann Road, in Memphis, Indiana.
Upon arrival, crews located heavy fire from the rear of the structure.
The fire was quickly controlled, saving the structure from any further damage.
A large tortoise was inside the structure that caught fire, but thanks to the quick response of the fire officials, he was able to be saved.
Clark County Sheriff's Department and Monroe Township Fire Department assisted in the situation.
No injuries were reported, and the tortoise lived to see another day.
