VAN BUREN, Ar. (WDRB) -- According to the Van Buren Police Department, Illinois State Police recovered 3-year-old Layla R. Munholland during a traffic stop Friday evening after an Amber Alert had been issued for the child.
She was found in the stolen vehicle with the suspects near Grayville, Illinois.
Chelsea Munholland, the child's mother, was taken into custody. Herbert Thomas is being detained.
Police say Chelsea Munholland, and Thomas broke into a home in Van Buren, Arkansas this morning and kidnapped the child.
They say Chelsea has family in Lexington and think the suspects might be headed there.
Investigators say Chelsea has mental issues and Thomas may have ties to Neo-Nazi groups.
They're also reportedly heavy drug users.
The suspects were last seen driving a 2006 gray Toyota Corolla with an Arkansas license plate, number 245USV.
