LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Sen. Mitch McConnell visited Shelby County on Wednesday.
The Kentucky senator met with the Shelby County Farm Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce. McConnell spoke on a variety of topics ranging from inflation, the upcoming presidential election and the United States' position as a world leader.
McConnell is stepping down as Senate minority leader this fall.
"It's been a joy and I'm not going anywhere, in spite of rumors to the contrary," he said.
McConnell is only the second Kentuckian to ever be majority leader of the U.S. Senate. He plans to serve out the remainder of his Senate term, which ends in January 2027.
It's not clear who will replace McConnell as the Republican leader of the Senate.
