LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's Portland neighborhood is looking a little greener thanks to the planting of 100 trees.
This was all to help replace the tree canopy with the help of Louisville grows and 100 volunteer.
Most of the trees went on residents' properties and yards. The residents got to pick out which tree they wanted in advance as to what would work with size and location.
Those who spent the morning planting the trees said many hands made light work for a project of this size.
"We had several citizen foresters with each group, and so we just do a demonstration at first, process cutting out, measuring, finding root flare, that kind of thing," volunteer Mickey Paul said.
Louisville Grows has been planting trees in neighborhoods for more than a decade, starting off in Shelby Park and expanding all throughout the city and southern Indiana.
