LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- About 1,700 customers of the Sellersburg Water Company in Jeffersonville were without service for most of the day Wednesday.
A valve located on Allison Lane at Seminole Drive failed as crews were performing maintenance on it, according to a news release Wednesday morning from the utility.
Because of the valve's location, the only way to repair it was to shut water service off to the Jeffersonville customers of Sellersburg Water located in neighborhoods south of the water company's plant on Holmans Lane.
Service was re-established around 6 p.m., and a precautionary 48-hour boil water advisory was issued.
Sellersburg Water officials said they sent notifications to customers via email, text, social media and local news outlets.
