LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Busy and bustling, constructions were busy hammering, sawing and working away Wednesday at Norton Commons in east Louisville for Homearama.

There is a lot of work to be done on many of the homes, but a few are almost ready to go. "I used to say my goal was to be done a week to a week and a half early so I could sit on the deck and watch everyone else sweat," said Perry Lyons, President of P.L. Lyons Architectural Builders. He has showcased his work at Homearama more than 20 times and has two homes this year. "I think kitchens are still a big draw, appliances, people are interested in technology, in appliances, the livability and the livability of the community," said Lyons.

A lot of the people parading through July 16-31st are looking for the "wow" factor. "We've heard everyone that's come in this house, they love the floors, they like the idea of reclaimed wood, this is reclaimed barnwood," said Lyons.

Others enjoy gawking at the luxurious decor. "It's interesting to see what's the first thing that will come out of their mouth, a lot of people are going to notice the ceiling," said Jan Davisson, Interior Designer with Cherry House. "A lot of the times, it's 'wow,' which is really nice."

For designers, Homearama provides a blank canvas without limitations. "And nobody's going, 'no', or 'no you can't push me that far,' I just get to do it," said Davisson.

Homearama offers the latest in technology and features not found in your average home. "Whether you're in the market for a home or you're looking for design trends, technology trends, of if you're just looking for something to do over the weekend, Homearama is definitely the place to be," said Vickie Miller, Membership and Communications Manager with the Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville.

This year, Homearama has a second location with nine more homes to walk through. "River Crest is the first time that Homearama has been in the Bullitt County area and Mount Washington area so we're really excited to be part of that community," said Miller.

Warning though, it can be dangerous. "The couple that bought our Homearama house in 2011, weren't even in the market for a house, they just walked in and fell in love with it," laughed Jeanie Burrus, of Burrus Architecture and Construction, "They moved into it a week later," her husband, Greg Burrus added.

Greg and Jeanie Burrus are co-owners of Burrus of Burrus Architecture and Construction. Their house this year has a modern, sleek design with 12 foot ceilings, fluid white marble and double kitchen islands.

They're ready to open the home up--to tens of thousands of people--expected at Homearama this year. "This is as good as it gets, this is your point of sale, it's so much better than looking at a photograph, when people can walk through the space," said Greg Burrus.

If you fall in love with the furniture, most of it is for sale.
