LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Wendy Novak, who was a philanthropist in Louisville and battled Type 1 diabetes for most of her life, passed away Sunday.
She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 7 years old and lived with it for over 60 years.
Her inspiring journey is shared in a new book called "Diabetes and Me." The Lift a Life Novak Family Foundation was established in 1999 by Wendy and her husband David Novak.
David Novak is the former Yum! Brands CEO.
The Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute, a service of Norton Children's Hospital, is recognized for having one of the nation's top diabetes programs.
She was 71.
