LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A love of professional wrestling and a love of Louisville led two longtime local figures in the wrestling scene to launch a new entertainment company aimed at bringing a different kind of show to the city.

Powerbomb Events debuted its first event, “Let’s Fight on Logan Street,” on Saturday at the Logan Street Market. The card featured Louisville-homegrown star Billie Starkz and three-time world champion EC3, who lived and trained in Louisville early in his career before moving on to WWE and TNA Wrestling.

Co-owners Bryan Kennison and Steven Johnson said the idea for a new promotion grew out of both passion and opportunity.

“We both are massive wrestling fans, and Louisville has been such a big wrestling town for so long, and we saw a gap in the community we could fill, and that's what our big mission is,” Kennison said.

That mission is to create unique events by blending wrestling with live comedy and community-driven programming.

“We wanted to bring a very unique show that we did our way to Germantown,” he said.

After stepping away from wrestling for several months, the duo said they realized how much they missed it and decided to launch Powerbomb Events. Johnson said they plan to produce more shows, but wanted to see how the debut went first.

“We are looking to do other shows,” Johnson said. “We wanted to see how this one played out first, to see if the love of the business is still there, and I feel like it is.”

Logan Street Market will serve as the home base for Powerbomb Events. Kennison and Johnson said they are also open to specialty events in the future as they work to add to Louisville’s long history of professional wrestling.

“We will continue to represent that. We will continue to serve that idea as best as possible,” Johnson said. “We are trying to share this experience with you.”
