LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The YMCA is hoping to teach young adults how to be in healthy relationships.
The "Teen Vibe Fall Camp" is going on this week. It features the "Love Notes" program, which is an initiative that helps teens learn the warning signs of a violent relationship.
The program also aims to support teens and young adults "in developing skills and confidence to engage in respectful, equitable, and healthy relationships."
Organizers call "Love Notes" an evidence-based, trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ inclusive program that addresses topics such as healthy romantic relationship skills, communication skills, pregnancy, risky sexual behavior, consent, dating violence and more.Ā
"Just learning about, when you're in a relationship, you have to wait three or four months to let the love chemical settle, then you see the person for who they really are and I've come to realize that in some of my own personal relationships," said Ariana Croft, a Butler High School student.
The camp also includes outdoor activities, free lunch and a tour of Hanover College.Ā
The camp runs through Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are two locations hosting the fall camp ā the Republic Bank YMCA on West Broadway in Louisville or Camp Honor Bright in Sellersburg, Indiana.
Registration is free for teens ages 14-18. Those who attend the camp for the entire week will get a one-year, community-wide YMCA membership.Ā
