Bullitt County woman thanks first responders who saved her life after a heart attack at the Zoneton Fire Department awards banquet.

The Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services testified in front of state lawmakers Tuesday that the state is hemorrhaging EMS providers.

The county's current contract with New Chapel EMS ends May 31. Leaders met again Tuesday evening to weigh their options.

New Chapel EMS failed to provide certain financial documents in time, losing their bid last month to continue providing ambulance service in Floyd County.

The LUCAS machine is used around the world to help emergency crews boost survival rates in medical emergencies. 

The department usually has eight ambulances, but it was down to four before Louisville Metro EMS stepped up to help. 

Tri-Township Fire & Rescue has worked to become certified in Advanced Life Support Care (ALS), which is a step above the basic care level it previously provided.

Maj. Matt Owen with New Chapel Fire/EMS said their crews are consistently responding to runs that should be answered by American Medical Response.
