LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.

No one else was involved in the crash.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Applegate Lane near Joyce Drive when the person lost control.

The crash happened about 2 a.m. Thursday. 

The driver of the motorcycle, 40-year-old Timothy Kerkhof lost control while taking a sharp turn onto County Road 725 North. 

Poilce say the driver was not wearing a helmet.

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Bluegrass Avenue, according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police Department Spokeswoman Alicia Smiley.
