Kentucky plans to close a $156 million budget shortfall while protecting schools, Medicaid, and public safety, with modest agency cuts and no layoffs.
Wednesday, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear joined local leaders for the grand opening of Gateway on Broadway in the Park Hill Industrial Corridor.
Nearly 90% of town hall participants supported additional funding for preschool and increasing access.
The governor will travel to the United Kingdom, Ireland and France to meet with business leaders and trade officials to give Kentucky a footprint in the region, leading to more jobs for Kentuckians.
Beshear said right now he's focused on being the best governor for Kentucky.
The resolution now awaits Gov. Beshear's signature.
Beshear said the flooding and cold temperatures are now responsible for 23 deaths in Kentucky.
Parts of Kentucky received up to six inches of rain from Feb. 15-16 as freezing temperatures hit the region. Counties around the state faced flooding issues because of the storms.
Russell County Sheriff's Deputy and former LMPD officer Josh Phipps was killed during a shootout with a suspect in Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 16.
