Firefighters battled a late-night house fire on Harkaway Avenue, working in freezing conditions to contain the flames after the home’s lone occupant escaped safely.
The fire was reported around 9:40 p.m. at a home in the 3100 block of Bank Street.
Twelve firefighters were on scene and quickly put the fire out.
The fire was reported about 3:45 a.m. Thursday.
The fire started just after 5:20 a.m. on Meander Way, which is near Polo Fields Golf and Country Club in east Louisville.
There are several common mistakes this time of year that can lead to a house fire.
Firefighters responded to the burning home in the 500 block of Henon Lane around 5 a.m.
Everyone made it out of the home safely before firefighters got there.
The cause is under investigation.
